House painting is coming along at a snails pace but did get the kitchen subway tile done behind range and am in the process of redoing the range hood. Ceilings and trim should be done tommorow afternoon and then hopefully painters will start on walls next. I did plant my sweet birch tree that my mom and dad gave me and someday it will shade my kitchen window and front yard. On another note, met with my advisor today, figured out my program of study, changed a few classes, and got my ID card. Things are moving along although I am sad to see August racing by, I am looking forward to finally moving into my new house and starting up school again. I love to keep my mind busy which is why I look forward to classes again, but I am also going crazy because I haven’t been able to find time to go to the gym. Does moving furniture and doing hours of yardwork count?

Here is my inspiration for my next set of Greenware. I love the idea of drawing a picture with an underglaze pen and then firing it before coating with a beautiful turquoise glaze. While my kiln is suffering from an out of commission coil, I will fix it as soon as it survives the move. I tried to fire a few weeks ago but the bottom coil didn’t work. I was going to use a pink underglaze, then fire it again with a underglaze pen of a picture I drew, and then do a final firing with a clear gloss glaze. I love this artists work!

I will be painting farmhouse de la femme all week. I am painting everything! Cabinets, walls, banisters, office, studio, bedrooms, bathrooms, wainscoting, etc. As soon as the painting is done on the inside, the outside painting will begin after power washing and sanding the peeling spots. I can’t wait to see how the white house with the black doors look this fall adorned with orange pumpkins o’plenty. I have three exterior french doors and one large front door that will all be black….glossy black! Here is a picture of the kitchen before…I will be painting the cabinets white, removing the ceramic tile and replacing it with white subway tile, and refinishing the island with a bluish gray stain called Provence Blue by Sherwin Williams. Can’t wait to see the new and improved kitchen!! Also, love my Thermador gas range!
I just went and had my final walk through on my farmhouse. When I was looking through it, I found the original prints and they were titled Farmhouse de la femme which in french translates to farmhouse of the woman, or we might say the woman’s farmhouse. I found it so ironic that the house was originally built by a woman, and now, I, a woman, am buying it. I have already began calling it my farmhouse even before I saw the prints, and that is what the original builder also called it. I love my new farmhouse and while it is not on a farm per se, it is a farmhouse. Although, I will most likely plant a garden next summer of peppers, tomatoes, greenbeans, and pumpkins. I am thrilled to have the opportunity and be blessed to now continue the legacy of Farmhouse de la femme and I thank the original owner/builder for her taste that so closely matches mine, and God for my many blessings I receive each day!
renohausfrau asked: Was this a freebie design? Love it!!! Love Coco painting. I picked up a book on how to draw/sketch trees. I will draw this weekend and post for you.
Yes, this design was free! I love to draw, sketch, or paint and I also like to throw pots on my pottery wheel. Great ways to relieve stress and be messy while having fun and creating. Good luck with your sketching and I can’t wait to see your art!
I will be getting the keys to my new farm house on Monday. So much to do! I have painters coming in all next week to repaint and touch up holes in walls. I will do Creamy by Sherwin Williams on the exterior and Tricorn Black by Sherwin Williams on the doors. I have the best painting company in town, K & K Painting. I will also repaint the kitchen cabinets white and restain the kitchen island. I will post before and after photos as soon as the work begins and I get into the house.
tobeeornottobee asked: I added the top super of the bee hive this morning. That super should serve as our honey. The bees are really tame and we open and close the hive and they do not even bother us. Every day they go about their lives gathering pollen and spreading pollen which makes more flowers and food. The actually are reinventing themselves every day as they have different tasks as they go through the life cycle. Love little coco. Love the house. Would like to see picture of chandler. To be, or not to be that is the question! I think I would like TO BE!
What a great example! Can’t wait for some honey and let me know when you blog is finished!! I want to beeeeee!
New house, new paint, new project, new ideas…old feel! I have loved living in the city, the energy, the hustle and bustle, but will soon be returning to suburbia.
